"A theory for you" is a fun interactive activity where we list a theory we’ve had and we ask our members to tell us what they think. You can send your ideas to us using our contact page. We'll post some of the ideas along with the theory. Do you have a theory about words, sentences or the history of English that you would like to share with us and have other people examine? Send it!
A theory I had this week is that a compound word could have one bound base and one free base. I’m looking for evidence that could prove this is true. If you have some, contact the Boring Scholars Collective to share it. If you think it isn't possible for a compound word to have one bound base and one free base, you can tell us that too.
